97.5 FM (La Mega) & 105.5 FM (The Beat)
Location
Rochester, NY (local territory – in person)
The Role
We’re looking for someone to build on top of a great book of business for two of Rochester’s fastest-growing radio stations serving two amazing communities. Not manage one. Not inherit one. Build one.
If you’re looking for a corner office, a team of reps to delegate to, and a book of business someone else already built – this isn’t for you.
If you’re ready to prospect, pitch, close, and grind your way to something you can eventually lead – keep reading.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Sell. You’ll carry your own book of business. In Year 1, that’s your primary job. Forty dials a day. Face-to-face meetings. Proposals. Closes.
- Build pipeline. The opportunity is massive, but nobody’s going to hand you a list of warm leads. You’ll hunt.
- Grow accounts. Land and expand. Your best accounts will become anchor clients.
- Coach (eventually). By Month 4-6, you’ll start coaching our part-time reps. By Year 2, you’ll be managing a small team while holding onto your key accounts.
Compensation
- Base Salary: $65,000
- Commission on everything you sell
- Override on growth from reps you coach (you only get paid when they grow)
- Benefits: Health insurance contribution
Realistic Year 1 W-2: $95,000 – $100,000
Realistic Year 2 W-2: $120,000 – $130,000
Your earnings are directly tied to what you build. No cap.
Who this is For
- 3-7 years of sales experience. Not 10+. We want hunger, not habits.
- B2B sales background. Radio experience is a plus, but not required. Payroll, insurance, telecom, agency, digital, outdoor – if you know how to sell to local businesses, you can learn radio.
- Rochester-based. You know the market. You have relationships. You’re not going to need six months to figure out where Henrietta is or how to properly pronounce Chili.
- Comfortable with rejection. You’ll hear “no” more than “yes.” That can’t break you.
- Wants to build something. This is a chance to create, not just occupy.
Who this is NOT For
- People who want to “manage” without selling
- People who need a big team around them to feel important
- People who expect inbound leads to close themselves
- People who are comfortable living on a base salary
- People who think “prospecting” is beneath them
Who Does Well in This Role
People who tend to succeed come from backgrounds like:
- Advertising or media sales
- B2B SMB sales (non-SaaS)
- Door-to-door sales
- Field sales/territory sales
- Former small business (including franchise) owners
You don’t need radio experience.
You don’t need a college degree.
You do need to be comfortable selling.
The Opportunity
These aren’t just two radio stations. They’re the voice of Rochester’s fastest-growing communities.
97.5 La Mega serves Rochester’s expanding Hispanic and Latino community – a population that’s growing, spending, and drastically underserved by local advertisers. Businesses that figure this out early win. You’ll help them figure it out.
105.5 The Beat is the voice of Hip-Hop and R&B in this market. Urban radio isn’t a niche – it’s culture. It drives trends, shapes buying decisions, and commands fierce listener loyalty. The audience is young, engaged, and influential.
National brands already know the value of these demographics. Local businesses are just waking up to it. That’s your edge.
You’re not selling “radio ads.” You’re selling access to communities that most advertisers don’t know how to reach — and you’ll be the one who shows them how.
This is a market on the rise. Get in now.
